How the dockworkers strike could affect your grocery stores in the Bronx

Dockworkers are now on strike, and that means Bronx residents could soon see shortages and price hikes at your local grocery stores.

Thousands of dockworkers have been on strike since midnight demanding better pay and job security. This caused 36 ports from Maine to Texas to close. The International Longshores Men Association is currently at the table with The United States Maritime Alliance negotiating a new labor deal.

Because of this strike, local grocery stores and the Hunts Point Market can be impacted. Causing shortages of fruits, vegetables, coffee, cars and more!

According to Gov. Kathy Hochul, a strike like this one hasn't been done in over 30 years. But she says New York was well prepared for this.
