NYPD says three people have died after six people were shot in Brooklyn and the Bronx in the span of two hours.
In Brooklyn, police say a 33-year-old woman was shot in the chest in front of 65 Tompkins Ave. around 11:30 p.m. Wednesday. She was taken to NYC Health and Hospitals Woodhull, which is just a block from where it happened.
Earlier, police were called to Gravesend at 2295 W. 11th St. just outside the Marlboro houses before 11 p.m. Wednesday, where detectives say a 23-year-old man was shot in the face. He was taken to a hospital where he died a short time later. There are no arrests, and the identity of the victim is pending proper family notification.
Around the same time on Menahan Street between Wilson and Central avenues in Bushwick, detectives say a 35-year-old man was fatally shot in the chest when a fight erupted at a cookout. Detectives tell News 12 a 30-year-old man was taken into custody and a handgun was recovered at the scene, however, it's not clear if the person in custody was the shooter. So far, no charges have been filed.
Earlier around 9:43 p.m. police say a 25-year-old man was shot by a group of people who had gotten into a fight in front of 415 Lafayette Ave. He was taken to Methodist Hospital with a gunshot wound to his leg he is listed in stable condition.
A little earlier around 9:30 p.m., detectives say a 30-year-old man was shot in front of 327 Howard Ave. in the back and the leg. He was taken to Brookdale Hospital where he is listed in stable condition.
Meantime in the Bronx, police say 29-year-old Kathryn Diop was shot and killed near East 194th Street and Marion Avenue just before 11 p.m. Wednesday night. A 31-year-old man who investigators say is her brother was also shot. He is listed in stable condition.
