Police continue to investigate a shooting that left a South Norwalk apartment building damaged by bullets and sent one person to the hospital late Friday night. Pictures obtained by News 12 show crime scene tape and blood in the lobby of Building D in the Soundview Landing apartment complex. The front entrance was also shattered.
Multiple 911 calls came in just before midnight reporting about 30 shots heard outside 30 Day Street. Lt. Joe Dinho said witnesses told police the situation began on the other side of Ryan Park on South Main Street and ended with bullets flying outside the apartment building.
Police have not named a suspect but made an arrest in connection to the case on Saturday. They said they wanted to speak with Lonnie Ancrun, 22, about the shooting, and when investigators tried, they found a loaded gun on Ancrun. He was charged with carrying a pistol without a permit and interfering with police. Dinho said police are looking into a possible connection between Ancrun and the shooting but that remains under investigation.
On Monday, a work crew was at Building D taking measurements to replace the door. Most of the crime tape was gone, but broken glass remained outside the building's entrance. Bullet holes were also evident on the building's façade along with marks from where shots had grazed the exterior. One bullet went through the post of a parking sign. Others could've easily gone into the garage. News 12 spoke with multiple people who live in the building or neighborhood. No one would go on camera, but several were understandably on edge and said they had serious safety concerns.
"We'd like to assure the public that this was an isolated incident," Dinho told News 12. "It hasn't been a problem area as of late. Since the incident happened, we have increased patrol presence in the area, especially in the evening hours, and that will continue."
Ancrun was released on $250,000 bond and is due in court April 25.
